At Smile@Westpark we offer clinically proven, professional teeth whitening for patients looking to improve the appearance of their smile. Professional dental bleaching significantly improves the colour of your teeth as it works from within the tooth to remove intrinsic staining in the dentine. It is a very safe and effective way to lighten the natural teeth without removing or damaging their protective enamel surface. This clinically proven method of whitening also removes any surface stains on the teeth caused by external factors such as tea, coffee, red wine or smoking.
Although there are many products on the market (such as whitening toothpaste) that claim to improve the colour of your teeth they are limited in their effectiveness as they can only remove surface stains which means you will not get the effect you are looking for.
The method we use at Smile@Westpark is the most up to date available. If you’re interested in having your teeth whitened you can call our team to book a free initial consultation during which the Dentist will be able to advise you as to the results you can expect. Initially it is important to ensure the teeth are clean from any deposits – which can also cause discolouration – called calculus or tartar and our Dentist or Hygienist will be able to do this for you. Then the Dentist will take an impression of your teeth so a custom made set of bleaching trays (similar a thin version of a mouth guard) can be made by a Dental Technician. Once these trays have been completed the Dentist will show you how to use the them to bleach your teeth using a special whitening gel which contains active Hydrogen Peroxide.
Clinical teeth bleaching is believed to last up to three years, although this varies from person to person. It is recommended to follow a regular maintenance regime of a few hours every 3-6 months to keep your teeth looking their best. This can be done using leftover whitening gel and your custom trays at no additional cost.
It’s important to remember that tooth whitening will not change the shade of any veneers, crowns or fillings so these may need to be changed if they are at the front of your mouth.
There are lots of ineffective methods for teeth whitening currently available in the market. It is very important to ensure the methods you are using are safe and do not damage your dental health. It is in fact a legal offence for an unqualified person to carry out whitening treatments. At Smile@Westpark our Dentists have professional training in this process and also carry medical legal insurance should any complications occur.
Please feel free to call our team on 01325 480300 if you’re interested in whitening and would like to know more. We will happily take time to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.
